United PayPoint (“PayPoint”) is committed to protecting your privacy and earning your trust. This Privacy Policy discloses our privacy practices for personal information we collect when you use or access our products, services, features, or content through any United PayPoint website (“United PayPoint  Sites”), any United PayPoint application or service (“United PayPoint Services”), or when you apply or express interest in employment with United PayPoint (“United PayPoint Employment”).

We may, in our sole discretion, change this Privacy Policy from time to time by posting a revised version at https://paypoint.com.na/privacy-policy  If we make any material change to this Privacy Policy, we will notify you by posting a notice on https://paypoint.com.na/privacy-policy/ prior to the change becoming effective and may also elect to send you an email notifying you of the policy modifications.

1.    What information does United PayPoint collect?

  • Identifiers, such as a real name, postal address, phone number, email address, account name, or other similar identifiers.
  • Internet activity, including IP address, type of device, operating system, browser, UR data, and similar data.
  • Inferences about preferences from cookies and site usage, including those used to gauge interest in obtaining United PayPoint Services.
  • Financial information, such as your full bank account number if you choose to use it with the United PayPoint Services.
  • Detailed personal information, such as your date of birth or national identity number, as may be required by law or rule.
  • Other personal information provided by third party service providers such as credit bureaus and identity verification services.
  • Information that you provide to United PayPoint when interacting with our customer support team or other team members via phone, email, online form, or other correspondence.
  • Personal information stored with third parties that you choose to provide to United PayPoint, such as information you may have in a third-party application that you may choose to utilize through an integration that United PayPoint has developed with the third party application.  By linking your third-party accounts, you authorize United PayPoint to have access to this information and you agree that United PayPoint may collect and use this information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
  • Email and/or phone number for your contacts that you enter into United PayPoint payment flows. We use this information to notify your contacts that you have sent them a payment and/or payment request.
  • If you use a device to access the United PayPoint Sites or United PayPoint Services, we may also collect your IP address, the type of device you use, your device identifier, your operating system version, the type of browser you use, your location, and the URL that you came from and the next URL that you visit.
  • United PayPoint uses analytics software to allow us to better understand the functionality of the United PayPoint Sites. This software may record information such as how often you use the United PayPoint Sites, the events that occur with such use, aggregated usage, and performance data. We may combine this automatically collected log information with other information we collect about you in order to provide and improve the United PayPoint Sites and the United PayPoint Services.
  • Detailed personal information, such as your date of birth or National ID number, and protected legal characteristics, such as your membership in a protected class. We may collect this information if you apply for or accept a job at United PayPoint, to the extent required by law.
  • Credit information and criminal record information from third party vendors performing pre-employment background checks as authorized by law.

2.    How does United PayPoint share my personal information?

We may share your personal information as follows:

  • Administer United PayPoint services.
  • Personalise the United PayPoint  service for you.
  • Enable your access and use of the United PayPoint  services.
  • When you send or receive money using the United PayPoint Services, we will provide the other party to the financial transaction appropriate details about the transaction.
  • If your payment to another United PayPoint user fails, we may provide that user with details of the unsuccessful payment.
  • With third parties to provide, maintain, and improve the United PayPoint Services, including fraud prevention, identity verification, analytics and marketing services, and financial institutions and other partners that are part of the payment process.  These companies are authorized to use your personal information only as necessary to provide these services to us.
  • To the extent third party analytics software is used to improve the functionality of the United PayPoint Sites, the providers of the software may receive information about your use and interaction with the software in order to assist United PayPoint with providing and improving the United PayPoint Sites and the United PayPoint Services.

Other than as stated in this Privacy Policy, United PayPoint does not disclose or sell any of your personal information to third parties without your consent. Please note that third parties, such as merchants that you pay and third-party websites that you visit, have their own privacy policies. United PayPoint is not responsible for the policies and practices of such third parties and we encourage you to review their privacy policies.

3.    What are other circumstances when United PayPoint may disclose my personal information?

  • United PayPoint may release information to third parties upon your request. For example, you may authorize a United PayPoint integrating partner to access your personal and business information.
  • United PayPoint may release your information if we believe disclosure is reasonably necessary to comply with any applicable law, legal process, or government request; to investigate or bring legal action against someone who may be violating our rights, our terms and conditions, or the rights of others; or to protect the safety and security of United PayPoint, our users, or the public.
  • United PayPoint may also share aggregated, non-personally identifiable information with third parties for auditing, analytics, maintenance, security, or other related business purposes as determined appropriate by United PayPoint.
  • United PayPoint may also release your information to a third party if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or a portion of our stock or assets. If this occurs, you will be notified of any change to this Privacy Policy, as well as any choices you may have regarding your personal information.
  • Your access and use of the United PayPoint Sites, and submission of this data to us, constitutes your acceptance of this Privacy Policy and consent to the uses set forth in this Privacy Policy.

4.    Does United PayPoint sell my personal information?

No. United PayPoint does not sell your personal information.

5.  Will United PayPoint refuse service, charge me a different rate, or provide different quality service if I decline to provide certain data?

In order to use United PayPoint Services to transfer funds through the Namibian monetary system, a user must comply with applicable laws and rules.  These applicable laws and rules may require the disclosure and retention of information regarding the identity of senders and recipients of funds.

United PayPoint will not discriminate against you for exercising any rights you may have under the Access to Information Bill (“ATI”) or any other applicable law or rule.  United PayPoint does not base its prices or the quality of its services on the exercise or non-exercise of legal privacy rights.

6.    How does United PayPoint use cookies and web beacons?

As reflected above, United PayPoint and its marketing, analytics and fraud prevention service providers use technologies such as cookies, beacons, tags, and scripts, to analyse trends, administer the website, track users’ movements around the website, and to gather demographic information about United PayPoint’s user base, and we may receive such information on an individual and aggregated basis from such providers.

We use cookies to provide you with a personalized experience by recognizing you when you return to the United PayPoint Sites; better understand our users by tracking how they use the United PayPoint Services; improve the design and content of the United PayPoint Sites by tracking how users interact with the United PayPoint Sites; and identify and prevent fraudulent activity. We may gather certain information about our website visitors automatically and store it in log files. This information may include Internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, operating system, date/time stamp, and/or clickstream data. Our third-party partner may use technologies such as cookies to gather information about your activities on this website and other sites in order to provide you advertising based upon your browsing activities and interests. We use Local Shared Objects, such as HTML5, to store content information and preferences. Third parties with whom we partner to provide certain features on our website also use Flash cookies and HTML5 to collect and store information. The United PayPoint Sites may include social media features that allow you to “Like” or share content on third party sites. These features may be hosted by the third-party sites or the United PayPoint Sites, and may collect your IP address, the United PayPoint Site page you are visiting, and may set a cookie to enable the feature to function. This Privacy Policy does not apply to third party cookies, web beacons, social media features and widgets (such as the Facebook Like button), or other tracking technologies used by third parties. United PayPoint is not responsible for the privacy policies and practices of such third parties.

7.    How do I opt-out of receiving promotional emails from United PayPoint?

If you prefer not to receive promotional emails from United PayPoint, click on the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any promotional email that we send you to remove your email address from future promotional email campaigns. 8.     What security precautions does United PayPoint take to protect me?

United PayPoint values the information that you choose to provide us with and will therefore take reasonable technical and organisational precautions to prevent the loss, misuse or alteration of your personal information, including the use of industry-standard data encryption technology and internal policies and restrictions regarding the storage of and access to your personal information. United PayPoint will store all the personal information you provide on its secure servers. Information relating to electronic transactions entered into via our services will be protected by encryption technology. When you use the services or facilities provided by us, you may be given an access number, username, password and/or personal identification number (PIN). You are responsible for maintaining the secrecy and confidentiality of your username, access card, password and/or personal identification number (‘PIN’).

9.    How do I update my information?

If your information changes, you can correct it in your account settings by contacting our support desk on support@paypoint.com.na. Alternatively, you can update and correct your information yourself by logging onto United PayPoint services.

If you wish to close your account or request that we no longer use your information to provide you the United PayPoint Services, contact us at support@paypoint.com.na and we will respond to you in a reasonable timeframe.  We will retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you the United PayPoint Services, or to the extent required by applicable law or rule.

10.         Cross-border data transfers

Information that United PayPoint collects may be stored and processed in and transferred between any of the countries in which United PayPoint operates to enable the use of the information in accordance with this privacy policy.

You agree to such cross-border transfers of personal information.

11.         Updating this statement

United PayPoint reserves the right, in our sole discretion to amend (including without limitation, by the addition of new terms and conditions) this Privacy Policy from time to time. You agree to review the Privacy Policy whenever you make use of United PayPoint sites or United PayPoint services for any such amendments. Save as expressly provided to the contrary in this Privacy Policy, the amended version of the Privacy Policy shall supersede and replace all previous versions thereof.

12.         Which laws apply?

This Privacy Policy will be governed by and construed and interpreted in accordance with the laws of Namibia. To the extent that a court has jurisdiction over any dispute which may arise out of or in connection with this Privacy Policy, we both submit to the jurisdiction of the Namibian courts.

13.         Minor

United PayPoint’s sites and United PayPoint services are not directed at persons under the age of eighteen (18) and we do not collect any Personal Information knowingly or directly from minors who fall within this category.

Where you have any belief that United PayPoint has mistakenly or unknowingly collected information from a minor, please contact us on support@paypoint.com.na to enable investigate and restrict such data.

By using United PayPoint sites or United PayPoint services, you hereby consent to our Privacy Policy and agree to its Terms and Conditions.
